Welcome to DEMENTIA FRIENDLY BAKER COUNTY!

Supporting People Living with Dementia and the People Who Care for Them

Dementia Friendly Baker County (DFBC) is a local volunteer group established in 2022. It is affiliated with Dementia Friendly America and dedicated to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to reduce stigma and create an environment where people living with dementia can thrive. We believe that every person deserves:

  • Independence – the ability to live life on their own terms with appropriate levels of support
  • Quality of Life – dignity, respect, and meaningful experiences
  • Community Inclusion – opportunities to engage and participate fully

Dementia is not just a medical condition – it’s a community challenge. Together, we can make Baker County a place where individuals with dementia feel supported, understood, and valued. This is a shared responsibility. Families, neighbors, businesses and organizations all play a role in building a dementia-friendly community.

To accomplish our mission, we offer programs focused on:

  • Education – equipping our community with knowledge and understanding
  • Awareness – breaking down misconceptions and reducing stigma
  • Support – providing resources and encouragement for individuals and care partners
  • Meaningful Experiences – opportunities for social interaction, creative expression, and activity

Please see our Calendar of Events to learn more about our current and free educational programs, caregiver support groups, and special events.
